March 2nd, Caden had his first of weekly Occupational Therapy sessions. His therapist is very sweet and has a calm aura about her. Caden wasn’t too sure at first, but once he realized how “ playful” this was he has a blast. We were given suggestions of what we need in home to help Caden thrive with in his therapy.

We also learned, that even though it may have seemed like not much about skipping over the crawling stage into walking, it does have some issues. An example would be under developed muscle tone in the shoulders and arms. We also learned that playing/climbing, stemming (seeking input/vibrations), and all the things Caden has been doing, along with all the new techniques we are learning & being taught helps to stimulate the part of the brain that involves speech. And we can testify to this!
Since Caden first evaluation back in November, we have taken every single suggestion, technique, books, websites……anything the Professionals have recommended and tried it. Some with no luck and some with amazing results. Caden’s speech has improved. He was evaluated to be around 9 moths speech development and by the time of his first speech session he moved up to ranging at between 10.5 to 12 months. He also starting to follow some directions and is even saying “ thank you” when he is handed something. He nows his colors and can count to 10. On March 6th, he said “ MOMMY” for this first time and it melted my heart so much. Now, we know I may not hear “ Mommy” again today, tomorrow, or even next week…but its there. He has may not like all these new transitions or new people, but he’s giving it his all and trying his hardest and we couldn’t not be more proud of him.

My daughter had silent, staring episodes for a few months around 2 1/2 yrs (she’s 3 1/2 now) and they were thankfully not seizures. What we think now is that it was her way of processing a situation or her way of “deep thinking.” It was scary, though! She would not respond to us for a good few minutes but she’s perfectly healthy. 🙂
